Health in Practice
The tools Wisconsin needs to improve health and inspire policy change
Active Schools
As part of the state's plan to support public health efforts to reduce obesity, school districts and community coalitions are receiving grants to pilot increasing options for physical activity in schools and school-linked settings. Strategies will help young people achieve the recommendation of 60 minutes of daily physical activity.
Why Active Schools Matter
Active Schools mean active learners.
Physical activity can help youth improve their concentration, memory, and classroom behavior.
Active Schools promote health.
If we don't take action to reverse the rise in childhood obesity, our students may be the first generation to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.
